01 — What I make

Seven lanes

Afro Trap

808 slides, Mande melody

Hard drums under a melody that came from somewhere. Soulful when it needs to be, aggressive when it doesn't.

Amapiano

Log drum, late night

Club-ready grooves. Shakers, percussion that breathes, and a low end you feel before you hear it.

Gqom

Raw, hypnotic, physical

Broken 4/4 pressure from Durban. Sparse, percussive, relentless — built for a system with real sub.

Afro Drill

Dark, sliding, cinematic

Drill patterns with West African melody on top. Minor key, wide space, anthem energy.

Afrobeat

Warm and melodic

Bright chords, live-feeling percussion, and hooks with room for a vocal to sit on top.

Dark Trap

Heavy and atmospheric

Rich basslines, sparse arrangements, textures that hang in the background of the whole record.

Mandepiano — mine

Kora over the log drum

The fusion I named: kora, balafon and griot phrasing where the piano loop usually sits, riding an Amapiano groove.

02 — About

Born in Mali

Honix Beatz, Malian-American producer, in Annapolis

Habib Keita, known professionally as Honix Beatz, is a Malian-American record producer blending Mandingue musical heritage with contemporary trap and Afro production — and the originator of Mandepiano, pairing kora, balafon and griot phrasing with the Amapiano log drum.

Born in Bamako and based in Annapolis, Maryland, he began producing in 2006 and has worked in music production for nearly two decades, releasing instrumentals through Honix Music Group under the West Side Africa banner. Deep 808s, log drums, cinematic minor-key melodies and traditional West African instrumentation. Every beat is built for an artist who wants identity, energy and impact in the record — not just a backing track.

Space matters as much as what's playing. Room is left on purpose, so a vocal has somewhere to live.
